Great Mexican food in the sunset district! The price is right, service is quick, the vibe is a bit loud and chilly, but that's all fine. Plan on coming with an empty stomach cause you'll want to order more than one thing.

Sunset Cantina is awesome! Located in the Sunset District. I love the vibe of this place, even when it's loud because they get pretty busy, it's still a great place to grab drinks and food with some friends. The servers and managers are great and super nice. Every time I've come here, I've had a waitress or waiter who's been knowledgeable about the menu, attentive, and very helpful. Everything that I've ordered off the menu so far has been delicious. Definitely try: + Queso Fundido + Messy Fries + Chef Juan's Ceviche + ALL the tacos (especially the carnitas & shrimp) + Quesabirria (was so good it needed its own line) + Street Dog (interesting but yummy) Let's not forget the drinks! You have to get a margarita for happy hour. The House margaritas come in so many different flavors. My favorite has to be either the mango, passionfruit, or guava. I definitely have to come back to try more drinks, but the drink I'm currently obsessed with from here has to be the "Melon 'Chelada, " a fruitier version of the Michelada. If you're planning on driving here, parking would be easy to find closeby in the residential areas. Bookmark this place for your next happy hour trip! Sunset Cantina is a must!

Finally able to try this place after walking past it so many times since they opened a year ago (maybe more?). Came to meet with a friend and there were plenty of seats indoors but if it's a good day, you can also sit outside. But slight warning, you'll have to deal with the noise from the N Judah and also the brisk winds. Service was really quick. We got seated right when we arrived and our orders came in about 10 minutes from ordering. We ordered the Chef Juans Ceviche that came with taro chips and I ordered the Quesabirria for my entree. The ceviche was delicious. I'm not sure if I enjoy the taro chips (something about the texture) but the ceviche itself was flavorful and it wasn't too spicy. The Quesabirria was a hefty meal. The shell was crispy and the filling was tender and retained its moisture in the cooking process. Would definitely come back with a larger group to try some of their other options.

Big place .,,lots of tequila ! Big selection of drinks too. We all had tacos 3 per Order, all around $ 15 for lunch. I thought the shrimp were the best looking and they tasted great. The Carnitas and Carne Asada were both pretty good, but on the small side, Our server was prompt and welcoming. The interior is nice and bright , spacious with a huge , big screen on the back wall. The place is very clean, including bathrooms and it would be very easy to spend a few hours over margaritas and appetizers there. There is also plenty of outdoor seating.
